Royal Chelsea Flower Show 2008: Paul Cooper designs for Simply Italian

This year Simply Italian has been invited to join the Royal Chelsea Flower Show with a 120 sq.m stone Italian garden designed by multi award winning garden architect and sculptor Paul Cooper.

'Ocean to a Garden', sponsored by leading Italian stone company Testi Fratelli, will be the largest aquatic display ever to have been at the Show and promises to be like nothing you have ever seen before.
The Garden, which is reminiscent of ancient Roman temples or forums, will be laid out as an enclosed outdoor space with granite floors, walls and colonnades against a backdrop of a natural Tuscan landscape. The colonnades serve as planters for roses and lavender whilst the vertical surfaces are infused with water running over smooth, ribbed or textured granite surfaces. The undulating floor invites you to walk into this watery world inbetween the colonnades, stepping through the raised dry areas.
The Garden is cladded with stone, which could have been the floor of the oceans billions of years ago, brought to the surface through eruptions to form mountains and rocks, now made into an unconventional architectural garden.
Our main sponsors for the event, Testi Fratelli, will be supplying granite which uses the most advanced 3D stone shaping technology in the world to create a truly unique look.
This will be the ultimate in architectural garden design combining tradition and innovation, taking it to an aesthetical level that satisfies even the strongest desire for uniqueness.
